A friend recently asked me where I find inspiration.
Sometimes it is hard not to get caught up in what is inspiring others, but only focusing on what has been put before you!
This summer the kids and I went to visit my dad and spend some time with him. My mom had only been gone a month at the time and it would be our first visit since the funeral. I was anticipating it to be hard, and it was...seeing the house just the same...almost like my mom was away on a trip and would return. Tears filled my eyes as I walked around the house and saw her "everyday" things lying around. Her Bible, her toothbrush, her shoes and her purse.
As I went to the backyard to get some fresh air I noticed that mom's hydrangeas were blooming like crazy! It was a comfort to see something she loved so much, a little joy that the Lord's hand had provided for me too to enjoy! A reminder of my mom and a little message from God that all would be ok!
Being that flowers are my favorite to paint I began to photograph the flowers for future painting inspiration. As soon as I got home I began to paint and paint and paint hydrangeas. The beautiful flowers that my mom had once planted became an inspiration for me to work on. The flowers became a special bond in my heart of my mom's memory crossed with my joy for painting.
So for me inspiration come from experiences and the things around me. Look around you and see what inspires you daily either creatively, in how you may serve or love your family, or how you live your life! God is a good God and He gives us so much beauty around us to enjoy!
